Understanding Your Dues
How They're Calculated
Our dues structure is designed to be fair and proportional, based on a simple formula applied to your gross pay (your regular pay before taxes and deductions). Here are the key principles:
- For every $1,000 you earn in gross monthly pay, your dues are $17.00 (plus a flat $2.75).
- The calculation never includes overtime pay.
- The dues rate of 1.7% of gross pay is equivalent to roughly three hours of your pay each month for a full-time (40 hours/week) employee.
- If your position is half-time (.5 FTE) or less, your dues are proportionally lower.

Where Your Dues Go
Your dues are an investment in our collective power. They provide the resources we need to win strong contracts, defend our rights, and build a better future for all workers at OSU.
Statewide Power: Supports our statewide union's bargaining, organizing, and political action to raise standards for all public service workers in Oregon.
Our Local Union: Funds our local's operations, including steward trainings, legal support for grievances, and member events right here at OSU.
Unity Fund: A portion goes to our international union, SEIU, to support nationwide campaigns for worker justice.
