On Sunday, Sept. 13, 2026, our SEIU Local 503 Board of Directors and Hardship Committee met and approved strike benefits for a potential Higher Education strike. We want our members to have the facts about the support available in the event of a strike.
Strike benefits: $80 per day, up to $400 per week
The Board approved $80 per day for workers who are striking and show up at a picket line, with a maximum of $400 per week.
Additional help with bills
The Board is seeding a $500,000 hardship fund for striking workers at Marion County and Higher Education who face financial hardship or have trouble paying bills due to striking.
Workers facing hardship will be able to submit a bill for support. Initially, members will be eligible for up to $1,000 in hardship funds, not to exceed their missed pay. Members requesting hardship assistance must have been active strikers.
